I absolutely totally agree.i am disgusted with dermalogica for raising their prices AGAIN!is it me or have they already increased them twice this year already?like most people on here,my sales are down.i am fed up of dermalogica salons popping up all over the place near me and now, just to top it all off,i went shopping at the weekend and saw it sold in not one,but TWO normal shops ~ it absolutely infuriates me.

Right, now ive got that off my chest,i would love to know your findings with your trial holistic beauty ~ im seriously going to change product range and write a letter to dermalogica telling them so!xx

I am quite surprised that more stockists are not upset by this as before I posted this thread I checked to see if anything that had been said about it, but nothing. I know from past threads there are more dermalogica stockists who use salon geek so maybe it will not affect them.

It’s good to hear I am not over reacting to this, I am seeing my rep soon so will be able to express this to her, but bless her what can she do, the only thing that would make any changes is a significant reduction in sales across all salons, and will that happen - I don't know, but it’s happening to me.

I am a stockist and have called the HQ to complain -my sister has a salon in Bath and she called them as well so I think a lot of salons complained but doubt they'll take this into account!

Thank god im not the only one!!!!! I am currantly looking at new skincare ranges to take on. I have really had it with Dermalogica:mad: Talk about not looking after your customers, the price increase is a joke , clients think about their money now and will look for an alternative. I have stock sitting here on the shelves. When my rep was in last week , the usual nonsense saying I have to put in another order as Im down 22% from last year, does she not understand the concept of selling what I have first???? I challenged her about the internet selling and she said there was nothing they can do about it , and its not real Dermalogica ect, I know it is , a customer of mine bought it , I asked her to bring it in so I could have a look and yes its the real deal!!!!!
I was told before there was a dedicated team of people assigned to this area of internet selling, thats why they have those silver little stickers on them so that they can source where its coming from, I think its a losing battle, , going on what everyone has been saying, if they lose that many accounts I think they are shooting themselves in the foot. I will happily say goodbye to them:irked:

It really saddens me what dermalogica is doing, especially to all the loyal salons throughout the years and the big price increases??? What is that about! The internet is ruining salons bigtime and sales are droppng hugely throughout the world because of this, dermalogica do not care, becuase they still get there product purchased at wholesale.

The sad thing is that dermalogica will totally get rid of salons, it is like Ella Bache in Australia, they got so big, and then started spitting out there rules and regulations (for example - if you stock Ella Bache you cannot stock another brand in your salon - becuase of this alot of salons changed "perfect-timing" to the new brand dermalogica back in it's day - they brand that is dedicated to salons. I find it a real shame that they are now doing the same things themselves to salons.

To think of all the years of my free time, my sundays spent without my family but spent training on dermalogica (without being paid), all to be totally worthless now.

Dermalogica in the end will go everywhere and the thing they do not understand 'yet' is that the brand is only good because of the therapist - I mean how many people have you seen now that use dermalogica and bought it off the internet and have either thought dermalogica is rubbish and use totally the wrong stuff - dermalogica will be seen as a brand that does not work, becuase the consumer does not have the knowledge to prescribe the correct products. It makes me laugh when people come into my salon and they are concerned with oily skin conditions but use Super Rich Repair! It is funny and sad. Any way good look to all the salons choosing another brand.

Dermalogica can do something about online sales ... ban accounts from selling online. It's quite simple, it becomes part of your account Terms & Conditions.

I would like to see an official response to these concerns from them, but to get that will require one of the trade press getting on their backs. Problem here is that Dermalogica pay them a lot for advertising.

We are banned from selling online- unless we follow thier instructions to the letter. Failure to do this results in accounts being closed.
This only seems to apply to UK sites though. The cheapo, ebay and amazon shops which come from offshore are not subject to the same rules.

You are right dermalogica have raised there prices twice this year already and we are in a recession! Even America are in a recession so it’s not that it’s an American products that the problem.

What 2 normal shops were they in? I can't believe this.

I will let you know how my trial goes will take about 4 weeks and week one ends this Friday so as soon as we are finished I will post a thread about how we got on.

I am seeing my rep soon I will tell her to look at this thread to see how many of us are feeling total disillusioned. X

I told my rep about this site and this thread, and she dismissed it saying all the other salons are selling shedloads (liar!)

Makes me so mad, how can all these threads be wrong . My rep was the same when i spoke to her last week , i was so on the defence with her , she had an answer for everything though , which infuriated me even more!!!! Its totally unfair and unreasonable what they are doing, and as mentioned by someone else , no other skincare companies are putting up their costs

Thank u holistic,i would love to read your thread on your findings. I saw them in boots and bentalls, the sad thing is that it really is cheapening the brand and they couldnt care less because as long as they are making money now then they are happy,no consideration for us hard working therapists who struggled to get the money for the start up package from them and who have spent all those hours training with them and our loyalty to them, selling on their products to our clients as well as using them in our salons. It really infuriates me. They even sent me plastic bags with no dermalogica logo on a month or so ago whuch i purchased with my 'points' ~ i could hav got plain white plastic bags somewhere else and used my points on samples etc. Sorry again, rant over!xx

Hi, I am a dermalogica stockist and am really thinking about pulling away from this greedy, american "cult" like company, i am furious that companies are able to get around their t&c's and undercut the smaller salons by heavily discounting dermalogica via the internet, i have challenged this on a number of ocassions and have been fed the same "we are looking to work around this" message, this was over 12 months ago and it is still happening!

I am also an eve taylor stockist and was thrilled and delighted when I got an e-mail from them stating that an account had been found to be selling their products at discounted rates via the net and they would not stand for it and that this salon's account had been terminated and should it happen again they would not hesitate to do the same again - why can't Dermalogica take this approach and operate a "zero tolerance" to all this undercutting and greedyness that they are guilty of.

I agree that the xmas "gifts" were a joke this year and there wasn't anythin slightly festive about them and i too didn't purchase any.

the most annoying thing is that they are so hell bent on you stocking a certain amount of each product that i still have items on my shelves that i got with my opening order (which was nearly 6 years ago!) as they insisted i NEEEDED these products.....phew sorry about this rant but as you have probably realised it is a touchy subject for me!

I know how you feel Urban Holistics ~ I feel exactly the same! On a lighter note though, I bet they haven't told you that you can actually call them up and ask for them to take back those products that you have had for so long and you will get credited for them on your account. I have a feeling that you do need to do an order at the same time so that your credit is used. They still did it a couple of weeks ago for me for products that had gone out of date so I'm sure they still do it. They just don't like to tell people but it was definitely in the contract that we signed all those years ago!

Umm, can somebody tell me where dermalogica are going in terms of dept stores? I will be seriously ****ed off if I've spent over 4k on a skincare line over the last 12 months and my clients that im trying to grow in a new salon are going to get mapped with me then get their goods off the shelf somewhere else...

still growing i cant afford to stockpile and do a huge cheap offer, its like the pub trade (independent traders) vs tescos and asda (multi million pound corporate businesses) on alcohol sales.

Hey Geeks,

I am also a Dermalogica stockist and have pretty much lost my patience with them now. I have stuck by them because i love their products and believe they really work.

However their costs are definitely getting the better of me and my clients. Retail sales have dropped dramatically.

One of my clients informed me that she had seen Dermalogica products being stocked in Debenhams in Kingston. This really surprised me considering the fuss that was made when Dermalogica was "illegally" stocked in Boots earlier this year.

How can we market a salon-only specialised brand that you can buy anywhere.

I really think they are going to de-value their products this way.

I am one person renting in a hair salon and there is no way i can compete with the bulk buying discounts they are able to provide.

Sadly i think it may be time to find a new product range, hopefully with similar excellent products but with more morals and a more reasonable price range.

I have the same problem especially hard to sell in store with the discounted online retailers... so now we ve decided to change our line of products - we foudn Dermalogica very hard to deal with as well but that s another story!

Has anyone else had a nightmare with the recent dermalogica price increase?
Our clients are really annoyed, a lot of the products have gone up as much as £4.00 and some clients are now refusing to buy the products. The company say it’s due to an increase of manufacturing costs but how comes the products which do not sell as well like the body and solar range have only gone up 5p-30p. We already have been struggling with dermalogica sales due to so many salons opening up with dermalogica, the reduced prices on the internet and the recession and come January they will increase the prices for the VAT and then again in April, how is everyone else finding it?
We are seriously considering bring in another range like eve taylor so when clients complain we have a more cost effective alternative. What do you think?
I love dermalogica and have been using them for 18 years but my therapists and I are questioning whether we would pay what they now ask!

I wish I had known this, I have chucked quite a few products that were out of date just recently (medibac range). This could have saved me a fortune.

Ive just spent my whole morning researching new skin care lines , Im happy to say goodbye to demalogica. Its amazing its all the same gripes people have with them , How can we all be wrong??!!! Ive also been looking at the availability of getting it cheaper on-line and just could not compete, of course the customer wants to get the same product but cheaper, they would have no loyalty to you when it comes to saving the money, and why should they???. Once they've had face mapping done whats stopping them buying the products.

It's naughty that they don't make sure everybody knows that they can do that cos it really does save you a fortune. I find the medibac range doesn't do so well, and usually goes off before I sell it all, and the solar defense range xx

I have also closed my account with Dermalogica and they have bought back all my existing retail products at the trade price plus VAT. I was told they would only buy back products at 50% off the price I paid but there is always a way round that ;)

Second price increase this year and the THIRD within 12 months. I did a thread about this a couple of weeks ago and we discussed the fact that in the 2 and a half years I have been a stockist the cleansers have gone up about £5 each and some of the moisturisers over £10 for longtime stockists I guess they will have noticed these increases even more.

Dermalogica do have a lot of positive points like the training and the stock exchange, the facials are exceptional BUT when you have ££££'s of stock sat round it needs to be retailed and I was finding it very hard to do that even more since I relocated from the salon to home.

I am still considering changing to monu but some of the facials cost 3 times the amount of dermalogica so still getting feedback from clients on that one.

I doubt very much Dermalogica will care if salons abandon them as they have so many new home salons joining them in each week a few low spend salons jumping ship won't cause them much concern !

There is only so long you can remain positive and my negativity towards the company and prices started to rub off on my clients a long time ago. I still do plenty of facials but sell barely any retail now.

I have been a Dermalogica stockist for 4 years and was sooo keen on the products and the training was spot on. But I have to say, I have lost faith in them with their hikes in prices. I understand once a year price increase - but when alot of us are finding our clients purses are not as full as they used to be - choosing between ONE product or a facial etc is difficult. I have always given discount to try & get clients to purchase after their facial and to ward off them buying off Ebay or online retailers. But I have to say it is progressively harder and harder with Dermalogica opening in large department stores etc. I have found it increasingly hard to retail and I am thinking of changing to another brand too.
Rant over - thanks for listening!!!
