Got a problem lately which is really getting me down, latelt I seem to be takibg so so much time on my buffing of enhancments, from finishing with my 180 grit and onto my white block it has been taking me 30 mins to sand and then buff to a shine??

It takes me 1.5 hrs to do my full sets but lately more like 2hrs as I have been struggling with my finishing, I use cnd glossing blocks and can not seem to get a glass like shine no matter how I try, I have tried lightly as I have always done, I have tried giving it some welly :) and still the same (slight shine) I know it cant be the block as I have gone thru 5 blocks in 3 weeks:eek: I must be going wrong somewhere? its getting me down as my nails are looking good my time has come down, I am getting more clients yet I am now starting to opt for top coat, which me personally dont like. Help,,,,,:hug:

Thanks guys xx

i use a gel top coat, this cuts down my time spent on buffing. Also its important to sculpt with your brush, let the brush help smooth the nails

Gel is alright but sometimes it's nice to bring the nails to a high shine without it.

I would try using the orange block instead of the white..I find the white a little too rough, which could be leaving you with light scratches.

xx

yes, thats true it is nice to finish with buffing, but i find i can do a full set of sculpts in one hour using a gel top coat. This means i can fit more clients into mt day... more money for me :):)

I totally agree...the gel does give a great finsih and is super quick...plus your right quicker turn around.

The bringing the nails to a lovely shine through file work does give you a good feeling of making a nail.

:)

Could application be at the root of the problem?
Many years ago, I was taught to "let the brush do the hard work - not the file".
Better application of the product makes sense and will save you loads of time and hard work in the end.

mm no I do sculpt with my brush, and i am not using my file much just a little to adjust length and sidewalls. I will use gel top coat some times but as prev said i like to bring to high glass shine and should only take couple mins, also gel top coat costs £4 more as it cost me x amount to buy a bottle of brisa gel topcoat, and can not just use this for free. xx

Are you graduating grits to eliminate the scratches? 180, 240, 1200 with Solar Oil, scrubfresh off the Solar Oil (it can break down the Girlfriend and the Glosser a bit) then use your Glosser green side then white. Sometimes skipping a grit as you graduate can keep you from getting that perfect shine. I find for an amazing hand buffed liqiud shine using the Girlfriend then the Glosser is amazing and the cost of the glosser can be built in to the service so the client can take it home for touch ups.

Ditto! I wold be lost with out it now! Before I could spend gobs of time Buffing and buffing and buffing and.... you get the point! Now I sculped them and file very little, since sculped with my brush and not the file. Just hit a spot that I don't like here or there then Gel 2 min in the light and out the door! Even if you want to use polish. Gel top coat then Polish. you can't beat the shine! I don't charge more for it since it SAVES ME time! And that is worth it, to my mind and hands to not have to spend all that extra buffing.

Are you using new files often enough so that you are not using old ones that have lost their oomph??

Using worn out files and buffers adds load of time to service ... costs less to chuck them and use fresh ones. Good tools are essential.

It makes no sense to save pennies on your tools of the trade and then loose pounds on wasting service time.

Geeg, I think you right I am overusing my blocks and my hotshots, going to start afresh today with my first client, will let use know how i get on lol. xxx

Hi

Dont bother spending so much time buffing, as long as they are a nice shape and have the correct apex, just buff with white block and then quickly with 240 grit and then put super shiney from creative over them. you will need 2 coats and it drys very fast. this leaves them very shiney. :lol:Hope that helps.
