Hi everyone

I keep wavering between these two designs - anyone want to chime in with an opinion? It's a small room, so I was just going to go with a neutral wall but some rather graphic curtains and cushions.

*these would probably be in the Cream option, which is shown on one of the floor cushions.

OR

What do you think? (I'll post pics of the room once it's finished)

option 2 i think, :)

I prefer option 2 as well.

When I look at the design for option 1, it reminds me of the biohazard symbol superimposed on itself loads of times!

Option 2, particularly since the room is small.:)

Ruth, you're right... I didn't see it before but now it's very apparent! Yikes!

Thanks for the votes, ladies! I like option 2 the most myself, but they are about £30 more expensive and I was trying to talk myself into the other ones for cost reasons. It's just I keep coming back to them, and I really think they'll be the ones.

This is the first time I've had a chance to design a room just to my specifications, without needing my husband's input, or worrying about my kids littering their toys all over. This little room will be ALL MINE! I want a really nice place for my clients to come (I'm usually mobile, but when they do come to me, we get stuck in my cramped dining room and I can't wait to spoil them all a bit for putting up with that for so long!)

I've got a black wrought iron table with a dark wood tabletop, as well as dark wood floating shelves, dark brown leather chairs, plus a leather recliner for pedicures. I still have to decide on lighting, but I've had so much fun so far finding things I like.

I'm going to go order those tonight... thank you!!

If it is a small room, I would opt for a blind as it will seem less cluttered.....just my opinion

HIya Option2 love them, I have vertical blinds and love them :)

I thought of a blind, but was looking for more of a "statement" feature. I originally wanted some bold wallpaper on one wall, but I don't know anything about putting it up and it seemed like a lot of hassle fo one wall.

I ordered them last night, but can return them if they don't look right. I wanted something that would kind of hide the edges of the window (they aren't finished very nicely) but if the curtains don't look right, I'll fix the wall and try blinds.

I've looked at a lot of the salon pics on this board and they were a great inspiration!

I adore fabric - it is my first love with corset making and dressmaking! I love the fabric in the 2nd pic but do agree that a blind may be more suitable.

A good option if you want to make a statement with a window dressing is to go for a blind to match the colours of your furniture (brown in this case) and then go for a light window dressing such as a fancy valance or swag to add the WOW! factor.

You don't need to spend a fortune to acheive this - find a local fabric shop and approach them for printed voile - this will keep a light, airy effect but still offer a striking eye catcher at the window. They may have pre-made panels which are already hemmed and such or be able to offer a contact for someone local who can hem them for you.

Best of luck :D

I agree with this. If you go for a plain-ish blind then you can change the window dressing as trends change...I'm just working this one through myself!

I like option 2.
I just think the first pair of curtains look a bit "fussy" and with you already having alot of dark furnishing they might make the room look a bit too dark. I think the cream curtains would look really nice.

I would go with your one wallpapered wall idea and just a cheap plain blind. I have done this is my salon and its just a really small room.

The effect is amazing and all my clients comment on it. I have pics in my profile. It would probably cost just as much to get someone in to wallpaper one wall as it would for full length expensive curtains.

Great pics, Lisa - thanks for sharing!

I'm so torn... I ordered the curtains but they haven't invoiced me yet, and as much as I like them I'm considering maybe asking if they'd cancel. They would cost about £60 including shipping for the size I'd need, and I know there's cheaper options out there. I just keep coming back to these!

There's a cream coloured bamboo blind up there at the moment (I painted it for my daughter's room) or I can use an unpainted one I also have.
I found some eyelet voiles with a leaf pattern on them that I really like too, but I'd have to have more than just cream on the walls to pull it off:

I was thinking of wallpaper based on this picture: http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=8091&c=515 from our own "NailSpirit". I love the bold print and hoped to achieve something like this with fabric.

I keep going around and around with this - I'm not working as I'm on mat leave, my husband's away, I have laryngitis and can't speak much, and have a four year old and a 2 month old for company... let's say this room design is my little diversion at the end of the day that makes me feel like I'm still in the game!
