i had a student in for one to one training today.
she did a great job, this was her very first time doing nails.

i noticed what fantasticly long nailbeds her model had.
when i started doing nails i never had anyone like this to work on did you ?

OMG the envy!!!
How lucky was she? Mine had rubbish beds or were biters:irked:
But have you noticed how many MEN have lovely nailbeds and toenails??
I have.
I've had ideas today about it all tbh!

yes, her finger beds are long, and they make the nail work look elegant.

She didn't do a bad job either for her first time. Just because the beds are long certainly doesn't make it an easier job at first.

i agree, i have seen a lot worse come out of salons round here.
she was a complete novice until today. i think she has good potential.

I was very lucky
these are my mums nails and she was my model when I was training:)

I found my competition/training model thanks to my brother, she was his girlfriend! lol. but during my foundation course (well, the equivalent that we have here) I worked on her nails once only... :(

and yes men have great nails too (except they're flat sometimes) I test a lot of things on my bf's :p

wow!! brilliant ...i hope i get lucky with models with when i re-train in september for nail enhancements i have two lined up that are willing but they have tiny nails.

The nail beds are lovely! However, i think anyone could do a fab job on someone with nail beds like that and i think a trainee would benefit much much more from working on someone with short nail beds or a nail biter. If they can successfully work on a nail biter then they can work on anyone.

I agree 100%

you cannot choose your clients, so while you train try as many different nails as you can, so you've seen it "all"

and keep the perfect nail bedders for pictures and promotional items lol

thats my thinking too, i have advised her to train on as many different nails as possible. its rare that a nail technician will have clients to work on who are blessed with the nails her model has.

How do u upload a pic on here? I've tried but apparently the file is too big! I wanted 2 show u my nail beds as they too are long (I get them from my mother), and am concerned that when I practice on myself (I start a nail enhancement course in sept), that it will be more difficult?? Or am I interpreting what's been said on this thread in the wrong way?

no, dont worry it wont be more difficult. a long nail bed is a bonus, it really helps give the nail extension a slender and elegant look.

i advised to practice on other sorts of nail shapes because it is rare to get clients with the longer nailbed area. so you need to be prepared for clients who have shorter nailbeds as their nails take a bit more work to make them have a slender and elegant look.

p.s i upload the pictures on photobucket then copy and paste a link on here and by some sort of miracle the picture pops up !

I also agree wanda 100% yes nice long nailbeds is a bonus and i'm pulling models with long, short, nailbitten, stumpy, mishappen fingernails and happy to have me doing them when i start in september.

For her first ever attempt at enhancing nails, this student has done a fab job...... it is totally unfair of you or anyone else to take away from this ladies achievement.
Yes, her model had nice nail beds - but this student obviously has some natural talent...... (And a good educator )

Yes, it is essential that a student learns and practises on as many different types of client as possible - esp. biters!
But when it is their very first experience of tipping, blending, handling the different products etc - why should they also have to work on a biter to feel that they have done well?!

I know for a fact that Not Anyone could do a fab job on someone with nail beds like that - esp. on their first go!

Not looking for an argument just saying what I think.
That reminds me - hannajadem - very nice!

Thank u everyone for your lovely comments! My hubby's nails are also really nicely shaped (even if I do say so myself lol), and so our baby son was born with really long nail beds, esp. for a boy. I can't wait until he grows up so I can see if me and hubby have made the perfect hand hybrid! Then maybe we'll try for a girl!

I am sick with envy I have got horrid small nail beds and ski
jump nails. shall be having words with my mother later lol.
