This post is simple really!!

What do you prefer doing?

Gel nails or Acrylic nails and why?

Lillyflower xx:)xx

At the minute acrylic, I am newly qualified in gel, and after using acrylic, I am finding it difficult to work with when sculpting, but time and practice might change that x

i like both.
but prefer to use acrylic :)

im loving soak off gel to do natural nail overlay with in a big range of colours. Clients can grow their nails and it stays put with no chipping. Everyone is going mad for it!!!

Trained in Gels soak off and buff off and acrylic......... But im an Acrylic fan all the way xxx

Acrylic, really due to the fact that I find I can do just anything with it. I use gels as well but nowhere near as much. :p

Definitely l&p. I suppose it's probably because that's what I started off with, but I just like the fact that once it's in place that's it. No sticky stuff or messing about with lamps.

Don't get me wrong, I use gel <a bit>, love the look of it and the fact that it files off so easily, but I could never be bothered faffing around mixing up bits of this and that in it in order to achieve a bit of glitz. When you've got companies like Nfu-Oh and Ezflow to choose your coloured/glitter powders from, it's an instant Aladdin's cave by comparison.

Yep, I guess I'm an l&p girl at heart. :)

Acrylic for me:green: like someone has said you can do so much with it

Doesn't anybody like/use fibreglass any more? :wink2:

In order of preference, for me it has to be:
Fibreglass, Brisa gel, then Retention+ L+P. I trained with each system in that order and much prefer using fibreglass and gel to L+P, although I'm proficient in all three. I love the natural look of fibreglass :green:

I just find it too fiddly but do think you can produce fabulous nails with f'glass. I love l&p I put alot of effort over the years into perfecting my skills and love that there is always some trick/technique to learn

I adore using all systems and using them all BEAUTIFULLY. :green:

I LIKE THE SECURITY OF KNOWING THAT WHATEVER ANY CLIENT REQUESTS, I CAN DELIVER IT TO THEM. To my way of thinking, that is what professional means and what professionals DO.

I love both (its the libra in me!). I love them for the different things they can do for each client........ but, sometimes i love L&P more and other times i love gel more. I just love nails really!

L&P. but thats becauseI am still training and have never used gel yet.............I will learn eventually but i'm always put off by how runny it seems!! It always looks so much more difficult to control

Not all gels are runny and some are very easy to control as they stay where you put them!

Gels come in all sorts of different forms ... it is up to the technician to get the gel that suits their individual preferences ........... Gels are by no means all the same and it is incorrect to generalize or lump them alltogether as having the same characteristics.

I'm sure i'll find out which when i eventually try to learn gel application :)

I have no experience of any gels so it was a general comment, i'm sure when i do start learning with gel i will find its not at all like i asume it is in my head...... hopefully i'll wont develop a gel phobia before then

:green:ACRYLIC AND GEL LOL

Just out of interest does anyone use silk these days? We used to use it in the salon i worked in and clients were mad for it.
It seems no-one offers this where i live anymore and i think it might be good for me to start offering it?

If so can anyone recommend me a course? We used to use star in the salon xx:green:
