Hi sorry but had to share my rant, I had someone come to me today as the doctors in my area and in the Uk are providing appointment cards for Doctor surgerys so people dont miss their appointments, and on these cards they have small advertisments for beauty therapists, hairdressers etc. Anyway the man come to me and see if i wanted to advertise on them andi though hey thats a good idea, i picked which one i wanted and said it would cost £88 a month which is a 2 Year contract  and this is the size of a bussiness card, i hada second think and thought well i can afford that so i decided to go for it, till he filled out the forms bored me talking for 45 minutes lol and then said first payment is today for £88 i was like whattt!! you didnt tell me that 45 minutes ago i dont have £88 today and he got the ump with me and stormed out of my house and slammed my door :mad::mad:How rude!!! And its now left me in such a bad mood :|. So as this is going on in the uk id advice if you get offerd this please think twice as its a vast amount of money xx

Blimey that's expensive . . . and yes, he was very rude.

My doctors surgery contacted me with a similar offer . . . but at £155 for the year.

I'm sure you have got the right to change your mind within 14 days about any agreement you make within your home to a sales person. Don't part with any money yet if you think you'd like to change your mind. Perhaps someone else will know a bit more, but I'm fairly sure this is the case.

It's not only a vast amount of money, but sounds a bit dodgy to me. Are you sure it's for real and not being conned?

They don't do that at our doctors !!!!!.........£88 per month IS a lot of money.....

I would not do that and if i see him again...i would ask for a new door !! xx

Persosnally I wouldn't bother with something like this. How do you get your clients at the moment, website, leaflet drop/yell.com

This kind of advertising would have little response imo.

xx

No i wont be taking up this offer at all its terrible and has made me very angry as he made it seem like it was my fault when it wasnt he should have told me in the beginining x

Yes it does sound dodgy, im going into the docs in the minute to ask about it. I dont have a clue hun but will soon find out and let you all know x

I get my clients from internet free listing sites, Leflets and what i do is print off slips and put about 30 in newsagents and clothes shopes etc and leave them on the counter for people to take. Ive done one leaflet drop in the past- didnt work. And im going in yellow pages in march which is only £13 per month xx

Stick with what you do. The other £88 a month thing sounds like a waste of money to me.

I was also asked by the same company if i wanted to do this and i accpeted then offer, it was 5 payments of £50 and it is for 2 years advertising on all the appt cards in the surgery. It is in colour and my own design. I have checked it all out with the surgery and its all above board. i was a bit annoyed that i was told onthe ohone the cost and then when he came thats when he said i had to do it for 2 years but i was still ok with price after i bartered him down.

That screams of fraud to me!! I bet when you ring your doctors they will tell you they've never heard of him, and that they would never send someone round to see you who would ask for cash on the day. Did he have I.D?

I did a thread recently because I'd been contacted by a company claiming to be selling advertising, except it was on behalf of a Police Newsletter that was going to be posted out to all the city. It sounded dodgy so I checked it, and the Police confirmed it was a fraud scam.

Never ever part with cash to someone who just calls round. Take their details, ring the company concerned, a legitimate person would be happy to verify who they are and call back at a later date. YEP, that one sounds like a scam to me and it sounds like you had a close shave there hun.

i had someone cal me today with the same offer, but i know from past experience they really put the pressure on, i couldn't get the last guy out of my salon, really rude and a bit scary too!

Sounds to me like you had a lucky escape hun.

I have heard of a few things like this in the last year or so and they never end up being legitimate.

Even if it was though, how rude to make you feel like that and storm out of your house and slam your door!! :(

The cheek of some people! :smack:

xx

Hey girls, Yes i had a lucky escape, he really annoyed me so much.
But i have got one thing from this...A lesson learnt to not be so vunerable because if i hadnt of had to pay up front that day i would have gone for it.
I need to do lots of research and thinking before i take up on anything like this.xx

Did you check with your surgery then like i did??

When they told me it was all above board and then i rang the company again i was satisfied .

As i said i was annoyed in a way that i wasnt orginally told it was a 2year contract but to be honest for what i am paying and for the ammount of appt cards going out of the surgery every day i think i got my moneys worth.

You must have seen a different guy to me.

Mark it down to experience and don't give it any more of your time hun. :)

There are so many people like this around now days, trying to get money by deception and conning people out of their hard earned cash!

I have had so many fake emails pretending to be from Ebay or Paypal in the past (not quite the same thing I know) but have become wise to it now and don't even bother to read them! lol

xx

Have you got much business from them then Jane?

Oh - I thought you said £88 per month! £88 per year is a hell of a lot better than £88 per month!
