I was not sure where to put this, so I thought I'd post it here.

I don't very often have to soak off a clients nails, as they tend to keep them on and we keep rebalancing.
Today, I had a client who had been coming to me since early April 2008. She loves her bling and usually has worn glitter nail beds and whites, and more recently, a glitter fade.
Today, she wanted a soak off, as she has recently had to move her work into a laboratory and is unable to wear her enhancements. She will only be doing this for the next 8 weeks and said she will be back.
Anyway, I thought I'd post you these pics of her nails 'after' 6 months of wearing her acrylics.
This is, to be very honest, what 9 out of 10 of my soak offs look like, and she was flabbergasted!
She thought her nails would be totally ruined, even though I'd impressed on her the need for me as a conscientious tech to ensure she oils and maintains her nails regularly (she came 4 weekly).
I have sent her off with a soak, mini mani & polish with nail art.
Her nails were very strong and healthy.

I was pleased with them, but if any of you can see problems, I'd be pleased for you to mention them.

well done bev!!
just goes to show how careful you are and that nails are un damaged from wearing nails if they are removed properly and that youve looked after her nails during appts

good for you and good on you for posting the pics xxx:hug:

Think they look great Bev. The polish looks beautiful too - what polish did you use?

oh wow!! those are amazing!!
I feel I should put a picture of my own nails on to show how not to do it! lol. Ive just taken my own off and sad to report they are no were near as fab as those!!

It's 'China Glaze' and it called 'Don't be a square' from a boxed selection of holographic glittery ones I bought from Sally's last year.

These 'China Glaze' holographic enamels are very popular with my clients on natural nails and enhancements.
They come in a box of 6 colours.

Thanks - guess what I will be looking at the next time I go into Sallys then

Wow!! they look fabulous!! It's great that you have posted this as it will also show consumers who come on here that acrylics dont damage the natural nail if they are done properly by a professional, i love the polish and art as well.

Wow these nails look fantastic, I love the colour, I love the design of the nail art and the fact that these are her own nails is the icing on the cake for me, as I am all for natural nails as I have never been able to grow my own lol and majority of my clients have their own nails..mmm just need to sort mine out now lol

again FANTASTIC work

They are well good value for money, they have 2 different boxes of 6 enamels in this range, that I have had, one is all pinky and lilacy and one is silvery & greens and blues.

I just thought there's so much negative about acrylics out there, that I'd pop this on and show what nails should look like if the job's done correctly AND - the client is looking after their enhancements PROPERLY.

I was at my local slimming class recently and I was asked what I did for a living, I said I'm a Nail Tech ands the woman said - 'Oh, fab, I'd really like to get some gel nail done'. Fantastic I thought, so I asked her why she had a particular penchant for Gel & she said ' Oh, well, I don;t want my nails ruining with acrylics, they damage you nails really bad you know' :irked:
Really - said I, would you like to come to me and I promise no nail damage will be caused 'directly' by my procedures.
I'm still waiting for the phone call!

Honestly Jo, it's a blooming nightmare sometimes.

There are soooooo many places that just totally fcuk up the natural nail BEFORE they've even had an enhancement product put on - yes, even around this quiet neck of the woods!

People go off to Peterborough & into Boston and stuff, and voila! Rings of fire & MMA are the order of the day.

It just winds me up you know!!!!!

There are soo many good tech out there too, but because we don't have high street locations, we are not necessarily classed as 'serious' or good techs!

I know exactly what you mean, sometimes it seems that because we work from home its not professional??
Hopefully by helping one person at a time to see tha acrylics dont damage nails only bad techs do then the myth will disappear?? :)

They look really great:)

Yes, what I did was soak off the acrylic with the foil method - individual fingers. The went back to the first one and removes the acrylic (as I had given it a good file 1st, it floated off) I then used CND cuticle remover & did the usual prep procedure to the natural nail. Once I'd wiped the Citrusoak solution off I allowed the nail to sit with solar oil on, whilst I moved on to the next one.
All in all, I only had to use my CND Kanga board (240 grit) very gently on a couple of nails to remove a bit of left over product on the free edge. The free edge was then reduced by 50%. I then buffed the solar oil in with the smooth side of my CND Koala. Then brought the nails to a high shine with my CND Glosser.
Squeaked the nails with Scrubfresh, and applied CND Ridge Out, polish x 2 coats and used CND Heat Dry over the polish & nail art.

Brill Bev x
Sometimes I think we DO underestimate the natural nail when we've not seen it for a while...in one of mine...6 years!!!
It just proves the whole point about acrylic etc.
Applied, cared for and removed properly....no problems!! x

yes Judy, that's so true.
We spend (well me) most of our working time enhancing with acrylics/gels etc, it can be easy to lose sight of what we are really dealing with - enhancing the natural nail - caring for and improving the natural nail.

I'm the first to say - crikey, not all my clients are so careful and rigid with their own home based routine of care for the enhancement - I get - 'Oh, well I knew I was coming to you, so I thought I'd pull/bite/pick my nails, dig the garden with my enhancements/scrub the oven without gloves/smother my hands in cillit bang/ couldn't find my solar oil/ can't remember when I oiled last etc etc
Crikey we've all got to live and not let our nail enhancement hamper our existence!! But, for goodness sakes, they have cost you xx amount - surely you want to care for them???????
What about all the work I put into each of them and all the 'I'm sorry about that''s you keep saying to me.....are you really sorry or do you just think - 'Whatever!' Bev'll sort 'em out!:irked::eek::lol:

Those nail are fab and i just love the polish you used:green:

beautiful really beautiful if she carries on like she has been she wont have to come back for Acrylics she'll be asking for manicures on her naturals they are lovely and look so wonderfully strong. long nail beds too were they in this condition in April?? cant see why she would want acrylics if they were lol. love the glitter polish it's a very lush colour Bev well Done This is how to do it right!!!! :)

Hello Its just goes to show you don't it that if nails are looked after properly doing after care and such and having a great tech then you will always have good nails, longest set I have had is 3 month and she only soaked them off as she was looking after the new grand child and was scared of scratching her so she has manicure polish and a bit of nail art and her nails are in such good condition. I think a lot of it is the after care as long as they do as told rub oil in everyday use rubber gloves when washing up and don't open tin cans with the tip of your nail lol
Got one coming Friday and she has chipped two of her nails opening a can tut tut:mad: so this will be my first repair all the rest just need infilling. I will take a before pick and an after pick.
