I just thought I'd start a poll and find out what everyone else is like just now.
Yes, it's a quiet time of the year for us, but just how is it going for you at the moment?

I'm a bit quieter than I expected to be !

Im busier than Janurary, but still not BUSY, I did only open in December so fingers crossed it will pick up soon

my one room is ticking over nicely, have a few spaces to fill.

my new place, which Ive been in since Nov 07 is still very quiet. got 1 client in this week. although next week I have 7.

I'm getting depressed only getting about 1 client per week on average since new year. I hope things pick up or I am going to have to get a part-time job in a supermarket or maybe even give up completely. I have discussed this with my husband and he said I need to set a deadline and if things have not improved by then, I should consider giving up!

I am so sad at the mo.

It's So quite here that its scary!! If i have a clients a day the last 2 weeks thats a lot It was realy good before that like 6/7 a day The phone isn't even ringing!! I'm getting a little (ok Alot) nervouse any ideas?

Thanks Bev Rose, i'm just feeling a little sorry for myself. Got a client tomorrow, a regular for an eyebrow wax, she is going on a cruise for 8 weeks starting in Australia going all over the place then back via New York, lucky her. Wish I was going.

Im into my 3rd year now and jan wasnt bad at all for me compared to last year. Last week was busy but still with space for more. This coming week is quiet at the moment. x

Well I do feel this last xmas was a poor earner compared to the one before,
and the build up to it was very quiet too.
BUT and a big BUT I am on a roll now with on average 2 new customers a week since the beginning of the year and I ask were they get my info from and it is the web! Searching and getting free listing ad or my actual website. I usually class my business and part time because I work around the kid and school, but i have been so busy I forgot to do the food shop last week.
Last week I worked evenings too and every day had clients for part time work I was busy. I am please to say that the new clients are coming back too. I just hope it continues!

Sounds like you could talk her into a nice pedicure too, she's going to be showing off her feet a lot if she's crusing somewhere warm. A nice french paint on them and maybe a bit of nail art or a gem or two, just to add a bit of sparkle to her days on the sunlounger & in the evening, when she's dancing????
Suggest it to her hun, you've got the time to do it for her, suggest she could always pop back later in the day if she's off getting travellers cheques or something?
Try this on her as an excercise at promoting your other sevices to existing clients. If there's no new clients coming in, try squeezing a bit more out of those that are willing to open their purse already!

I'm happy to say things are ticking over quite nicely at the mo and has been since the New Year, in what I have always found to be the doldrums in the past....I don't have a spare appointment myself until next Wednesday.....fabulous!

It isn't as busy as most months, but we are a lot busier than we expected this month and our takings are good so overall I am very pleased. I voted ticking along nicely.

I know I´m not in UK anymore but here´s my twopenneth!

well after the hustle and bustle of the summer season it is getting close to tumbleweed time, but not quite! I was warned that Javea is a ghost town in January and February and they weren´t kidding. Thank goodness easter is early and thus the tourist season to keep the wolf from the door ... but I am still trying to build up a good base of resident clients so that I don´t feel the pinch in the winter!

I work from home at it has been so slow building a clientele.

I had a new client in November, who admired my nails in a shop, that has led to 6 - all word of mouth

Without these I'd be in the doldrums.

I am so quiet at the moment. I'm not worried though, I've only been open 4 weeks:lol:. Have had some problems with the phone company, but they finally came and installed my phone yesterday, so the sign man is now working his ass off to get me some shop front signs done, now that he knows what phone number to put on them.
Without the signs it just looks like a hairdressers out front, so I'm hoping things will pick up soon. To be fair though, I've covered my rent and stock each week, I dont think thats bad for a new start-up business.

January was a good month for me, but February is alful...don't know why. Only new client I have had this month has been from word of mouth.

I think everybody is feeling the pinch at the mo....consumers are nervous at the moment.x

I am a little quieter than usual - but I have only just returned to work after having 7 weeks off with a broken wrist, so I expected to be!

I put just ticking over. Although I haven't got loads of clients, I've been open nearly two years and its been very slow building a client base. But the last few months I've been getting an extra client most weeks which had made a big difference to me.

I'm quiet, yes. My other business, is also quiet and my other one! lol

As well as Nails I also have an online jewellery boutique but I'm sourcing new stock at the moment. My other business is to do with Classic cars so it's bound to be quiet.

Very poor at the moment, so much so I have to go to work full time. Please bing summer!

Well i`m doing just fine and dandy at the mo, I do have a lot of clients and all tend to be, as i call rolling clients, so i`ve always got lots of appointments pre booked.
