I have a 'bride' coming in on Friday, and this will be her only set - as in she's not able to keep them up as she's a nurse.

She's marrying my brother as it happens, and so I'm familiar with her nails, they are square & short, not 'biter' short, but short, & ridged.
She has very small fingers.
I'd love to do a set of PopIts on her as the end result will be picture perfect, and I know she will only wear them short and neat as I would recommend.
Her nails would not really suit the white tip method, as there would be too much white to pink ratio.

I'm thinking of putting on a natural tip, blending etc & then placing a PopIt over, marking where the white should go the be aesthetically pleasing, putting the white into the PopIt 1st, then applying the custom blended powder into the PopIt. If I leave the white enough time to set, will it stick to the natural tip? Would the CB mix flow under the white on application of the PopIt to the nail and seal it and stick to the natural tip?

I have done 1 or 2 good sets of glitter tips, applying the glitter directly to the tip and using the PopIt to apply the overlay of clear, with good results.

What would all you PopIt experienced techs suggest was the best way?

Or should I just use my normal method and abandon the PopIt idea altogether?

Lots of peeps looking, but no one replying:cry:

I'm sure someone will have the answer! Please...pretty please lol!

 you caught me looking!!!
Wish I could help Bev but I don't do Poppits, therefore I would stick with your tried and true methods.
Poppits regardless, I don't think I would try something new on a bride for her wedding nails, not unless I had had a trial run weeks before.
HTH

Hi hun, how about doing her nails in a natural way, ie natural tip blend, apply popit and then do a french polish over the top hun, as i no that doing the white on the popit is not easy to do and if it is not quite right it runs into the other product. If you are going to do this i would have a play a few time first. Good look hun, i have all on just doing the pink lol:)

I understand what you're saying Izzi:hug:. The bride is my brothers girlfriend, but I'll do the job in my normal way.
I'll have to find a person to practise this on tho.

Well I personally would not do a custom blend on her using PopIts, Bev. It will take you too much time and if it's for a wedding and you want to do a great job, then now is not the time to be experimenting in my opinion.

You could do a very thin custom blend overlay and then do a clear overlay over the top using PopIts in the same way as your glitter tips and then have the best of both worlds.

Using the white powder in the PopIt is best when sculpting and not using tips... and even then it is tricky getting the timing right so that the white tip doesn't pop out when you apply.

I was one of those looking last night, infact I read it about 3 times, trying to think of an answer for you lol...
I couldnt though,

But what Gigi just said about doing the white and custom blend thinnly then overlaying with clear for shape and shine (and strength)
I have done that once I will find the pic in a sec and post here....

I have done a custom blend on its own in a popit but I found the colour ended up looking too...harsh ??
The shine was amazing as always. but the custom colour turned out like a block of colour rather than a subtle faded blend...
(hope I am making sense)

I'll go find the piccie xxxx

Cripes! I never thought of that happening!!

Thanks Gigi, I will do my normal method, better safe than sorry on this ocassion.

Will have a practise with the thin overlay method sometime.

Thank you all for your replies:hug: xxx

OOh, lovely Emms - thanks hun xxx

Here is the picture, now for these ones I was experimenting a lot lol,,...
It was my first go with the ezflow deep smile tips,
I did a method I saw in a scratch mag, where you only apply the ears of the tip to the natural nail, then fill with custom blend, but I only did it thinnlly, then applied the clear with a popit,
Quick tidy up of some of the edges and bob was my uncle !!! (actually bob is my grandad, but you get the idea lol)

I havent done the "ear" method since though, I didn't really like it,
But I think doing it the normal blended tip, thin overlay, then popit overlay will be lovely, and work really well hun.

I'm not sure if I posted this privately or publicly (I did a search and could find it), but what the hell ...... i'm not too proud to post it again:eek:, I did a few experiments with custom blending in popits quite some time back.....
I'd never do them for a wedding, here are my bloopers/trials, laugh while you can.....:lol:

Omg I am so glad this didnt just happen to me:lol:
The other thing I do is if you leave the white for too long before applying the pink when you press the popit on to the nail the white falls off

If this is comfort enough for you, it made me wanna play with my popits again!
Sorry I'm not able to help....

Same here LOL...what i was thinking of was to complicated so i wanted to say it is to much work with poppits so do it the old fashion way but then i was oh oooh....maybe i am gonna get it from the other geeks if i dare to say that it takes to long time with poppits  so i quietly walked out

If you are going to use PopIts then use them the way they are meant to be used FOR A FAST SERVICE. Which means don't get too complicated with them. Well less tips and a one colour overlay and you're done. If you want to get fancy dancy then use your talent.

Many techs get fancy, for eg: a custom blend using a glitter free-edge (which the tech often doesn't charge enough), then 3 weeks later the client wants a change, ....
why not do a plain nail, then paint the free-edge with glitter polish?

This is just one example of keeping it simple.

It's great to show off your talent, but does the client pay for that talent?
Many techs charge for product, but not for their talent, this is the reason I have given up on nail art..... they all want it for next to nothing and jusdging by the posts in here, many "give it away", I don't give it away, I "gave it away".

There are often a few ways to achieve the same look, with less time and the client is just as thrilled with the result.

So true!

How funny  the steam would be coming out of my ears :grr: 123 squish! cannot wait to get stuck into PopIts countdown.............
Bev Rose I agree with the others give your sister in law 2b the best custom blends you can forget the PopIts there's always another time.
Good Luck
