i was parked out side my daughters school today waiting for her, when some t*** went by and hit my wing mirror off.
i have waited on the same road for her for over 4 years and nothing, but today god was not shining down on me.

went to the local garage and they have said over £300 for new mirror as it has cracked the casing around it.

not impressed as the driver did not even stop to say soory and give thier details.

came home and had a glass of wine cause i nearly cried.

That does seem a lot of money for 1, wot sort of car is it, do shop around for 1, it does pay. if its cos its a special colour, try asking what a plain 1 cost and then see how much, from paint sprayer, it is to colour match it, it may be cheaper.

Also ring around a few breakers wards to see if they have 1 in the same colour, you may get lucky.

i have a ford galaxy. i looked on ebay earlier and they wanted £95 for a mirror with no coloured casing, and mine has got coloured casing.

it cracked from the join to the car.
cantacted the insurance company and i have a £200 excess, going to have anothe look around the garage tomorrow for quotes.

i one thing that good, my daughter and i was not hurt.

that seems a bit pricey, i had my wing mirror smashed a couple of months ago on my 206, went to the main Peugeot dealer and they got me a new one and fitted it for just under 100€ (approx £70), it was a coloured wing mirror too, not just plain black.

having knocks/bangs in cars does shake you up, I've only had a couple (thank goodness), one last July when some idiot smashed into the back of me and another 7 years ago a head on smash when i was stationary, wrote off my car and left me in agony for weeks.

Hi luv, I had a granada scorpio ultama estate in red and I was quoted stupid money for a new mirror, electric, heated etc, there are specialist ford breakers out there. I paid £30 for the wing mirror and casing and the guy who painted it to match my car also fitted it for me for £50. It realy is worth doing the rounds on the phone.
Two weeks after I had the work done a drunk driver wrote the car of when she hit it at 60 miles an hour:irked: Bought a red ford mondao estate. Had only been back at work full time for 3 months when I got rear ended by a bimbo in a snow storm, had another few months of work and now I don't drive red ford estate cars:lol: cople of minor bumps since then but so far so good:lol:

Sorry to hear this Ann. Give the breakers yard just outside Bicester (on the Aylesbury Rd) a ring they are called Hughes they are in the phone book they might have one.

I'd be well gutted if it were me!
If i were you i'd wait outside the school again tomorrow & wait for the bast*ard to appear & get their number, after all, why the hell should you have pay that!:evil:

Very very annoying and you have the right to be angry.
However, after a few hours in situations like these I think .... luckily no-body died. You just stress yourself to the max and even more negative things happen.

The price that you were quoted is a bit steep - you need your wing mirror, so shop around and see whats the best deal you can get.

i have been hit twice in the back of my car whilst driving, in the same 6 months!!! the first time they wrote my car off, not i have ppl kicking my mirrors on my street!
