I am in the middle of some homework for my NVQ2 on waxing, and while researching, came across this page on the net

Just Say No To Brazilian Wax

Well, where do I start?! This lady's comments (and, by the way, personal feelings toward waxing) are very damaging to our industry.

She reckons, among other things

"it is usually the male requesting the process, which is dangerous to the female, who gains very little"

GGGRRRRRRR!!!!

Just had to get that out:rolleyes:

Before this thread gets closed and asked to be a blog ;), here are my thoughts on this.

For every detractor of any particular treatment there will its devotees; this is to be expected, acknowledged and accepted. If you lose business as a result of this article firstly I'd be very surprised, and secondly, it leaves room in your book for more profitable treatments.
Education is key here; proper aftercare will minimise the itching afterwards, and personal choice will always win out. Even the author admits "you can always choose to participate or not".
I wouldn't worry about this in the slightest.

It is just a viewpoint and it does have some fair comments some of which i personally agree with.
I think this degree of hair removal is in some ways a fashion and i also think not everyone can have it sucessfully without suffering ingrowns, rashes etc.
Also there are a lot of inexperienced waxers being asked for it and attempting it when they really do not know what they are doing hence the ripping of skin etc.and why there needs to be much more emphasis on training.
As for men asking for it,i expect some do.I also think for every women who waxes all there hair off there are a lot more who shave it all off because they want to ,completely unpressurised by men.
Dont forget its not supposed to be nice for anyone to be hairy anywhere anymore and thats both men and women the bsc is becoming as popular as the brazillian.
I think there is a very much distorted view of bodies nowadays not just because of ready available porn but in general. With airbrushing anyone can be given a flawless ,hairless, pimpleless body.
