Hi
I was wondering that, if you have regular brazillian waxing, can it make the labia lose its elasticity, leaving you with loose ones later!?? or is it one of those urban myths?

your advice would be grt many thanks

I can only liken it to eyebrows where there is similar opinion and i would imagine that if you are properly supporting the skin and using a barrier between skin and hair, your clients will not eventually have their bits round their knees.
I think age and gravity alone will take care of that.

I agree with Gillian, if you stretch the skin appropriately there should not be any long term effects other than the desired ones of fewer, weaker and thinner hair!
hth:hug:

hi girl, yes it can - COs it HAPPENED TO ME!!! my gyne said i can have an operation but i too scared.

I would doubt this very much as the skin where we would take hair from for the Brazillian is not the same as our eyebrow skin. As long as we support all the skin we take hair from we should not be tripping over anything in later life. If there is anything sagging later in life then it is more likely to be the passing of time than any waxing.

From my experience it's those women who have had children who tend to have looser labias, general rule, the more kids the looser they tend to be. I myself have noticed that I am looser in that area now after the birth of my daughter. Childless women are usually firmer down there...

Sorry to sound flippant but unless you work as a porn star, DOES IT REALLY MATTER??
who's going to look?
I'm sure my bits have never been very elastic anyway. . . I must admit I never spend that long looking at them. I have a life.

What does everyone else think?

Lol and Amen to that ... absolutely irresponsible and ridiculous to think any otherwise...the only real outcome from regular waxing to this area as with most areas (with the exception of perhaps eye brows)is a reduced hair regrowth rate ...assuming correct waxing methodology is applied for said treatment

Woman's labia size varies from woman to woman particularly when child birth tends to..well erm distort and exaggerate things..as do nose sizes on males .many are extremely conscious of there's which is completely understandable as its a very personal thing..."OMG is it normally this size compared to others ..at this rate I could glide across the English Channel in only a force 1 gale etc etc" kind of thing

...waxing really doesn't have any part to play with this aspect today nor in the distant future ...

wax it,love it and enjoy it

Lol PMSL. I agree.

However I did have a friend who went in for a labia plasty (outer labia) because she could not stand the sight of them...........................

As for the thread, honestly the mind boggles, the labia is not made of plastacine !!!! sorry I can not take this seriously :):)

Well I wouldn't want to look at mine........ As far as I'm concerned those bits are tucked away for a very good reason!

You know what I agree with the girls on this one, sorry but theres way too much other "real" issues to worry about in life, than whether or not your labia is big, small, loose or whatever!!

Reading this thread has made me chuckle and i like that its gone the humorous rather than contentious route, but I am still very curious....
Do people stand in front of a mirror to see how big the lips are, use a pocket mirror or are they that large that they are visible without mirrors?
Well I shall ponder about this for a moment or two but its probably better left till after breakfast

HAAAAAAAA haaaaaaaaaa!!! i really did laugh out loud when i read this!!!!

It really does make you wonder if some people have too much time on there hands, when they find themselves sitting and worrying that their lady bits dont look right!!!

sorry, but i just find this thread very funny:lol:
but can you imagine if this was the case, we would be walking about with our bits in a wheelbarrow:eek::)

Lol on a serious note......

As mentioned above my hairdresser did actually get a labia plasty on the NHS both inner and outer because she managed to convice a surgeon , with the aid of a friend, t in this area hat the size of her labias were detrementially affecting her ability to have a relationship! Now beleive me she had no problems in this area she just thought that they were unsightly !!! Go Figure !!!

But getting back to the origional post........................................... wow if we told all the men that intimate waxing "could result in stretching".....................................................................well I think that several therapists would be inundated and quite well off !!!

I've been gettin waxed since I was 15 and I have never noticed a difference, but I am very body concious and if I had the money I'd get labia plasti on my lady lips I hate them with a passion! n fyi I'm not a porn star  xx

This made me LOL.

How many males give birth thro their noses LOL!!!!!!!!!!

I am assuming you were asking this question in seriousness?

I would say it is an urban myth. and yes, having seen MANY... yes, childbirth, age and carrying extra weight can all make a difference. But also, some people have large inner labia for no apparent reason at all. One of my clients calls this 'an inside out fanny'

I personally think.... none of us (girls) really think they're pretty to look at. Have we ever had any complaints about how they feel!?

It is a shame that image obsession has crept into our most intimate areas.

I think a lot of it is to do with the internet and even now on tv which especially on satelite channels are getting more and more overtly sexual and you dont see all different bodies, just the hairless, perfect everything in order, tight ones.

As a waxer we are obviously very aware of the different shapes, sizes and looks people have in that area and probably like you all, i often have to reasure people that what they have isn't an exception and they are perfectly normal.

No we shouldn't be worried about what we look like down there but surely that is what part of the reason for having brazillians/hollywoods is all about maybe we as beauty therapists play a part in offering the service.

If it wasn't available most women would still have a bit of hair there and wouldnt be able to see their bits so readily I hear younger and younger women/girls hating their hair on an area that should have hair on it, are we offering a service that is yet another thing to fuel a womens insecurities.
