Morning everyone,

I don't want to scare anyone but we've just been sent an e-mail at work warning us of some weather warnings out in the UK, they've advised all company car drivers not to drive this evening unless we really have to (not because they care, because they don't want their cars damaged!) Apparently its fog that is going to cause the roads to be extreemly icy.

So please think if you really need to go out tonight, I've cancelled my client just to be safe, the £22 I'd have earn't just wouldn't have been worth it if I had an accident.

Be safe everyone xx

what area were the warnings for hun??

Dont know what its like where you are but in Fife its a pea-souper at the mo. and sooooo cold - just took the dog for a walk and need to defrost  my toes and my nose!

It's glorious sunshine here, I've just put my washing out.

That means nothing though, knowing the UK weather, that could change any minute!!

Thanks for the warning. x

They didn't say much it just says 'throughout the UK', I know it was bad here (Northants) this morning but I'm not too sure about other places, I'll have a search xx

Really?? I live on the south coast, nothing but mild sunny weather here! is it whole of uk?

its foggy here and feezing , i wouldnt want to go out driving today ,

It was bad on my way to work this morning and I thought it'd clear up but it hasn't. I think it is due to be really bad tonight and first thing in the morning xx

The weather this morning was freaky!!! My salon is in Queensbury in Bradford, which if you look it up is actually the highest point above sea level in England (excluding Wales and Scotland of course!), and as I was driving up I could see the fog sitting in the valley, it was really strange!!

Quite right though hun and thanks for the warning, a few quid's just not worth the risk :green:

Same here to nice bright cold night.

Ive been out driving most of the day doing the nursery & work runs and the roads are very icy. My back end has slid a few times going round corners (no wise cracks please :green:)

Ive not long since got in from getting my son from work and it was reading -2.5c on the dash. At 3.30am i was taking my son home from work and it was reading -6c so god only knows what its going to be later tonight.

I had to go 1 junction on the M62 (yeah yeah i know i dont do m/ways but HAD to) and i was bricking it, i had my fog lights on and was crawling along with the others at 30mph i just couldnt see the fog was that dense.

Please please take care if you have to be out late tonight when it will be even worse than now (that includes myself)

It hasn't been too bad here today but last night was horrendous. We were 10 mins late picking our daughter up from football due to the fog, you literally couldn't see the cars in front until you got quite close. I was going to stock up on my Ezflow stuff yesterday but as where I need to go to get it is about a 40 min drive from ours I decided against it, I can wait few more days.

So yeah anyone that is affected be careful and watch out for those idiot drivers that drive too fast even though it's foggy!:irked: it's those sort of people that cause the accidents, not the fog.

Wasn't too bad tonight (just felt a bit chilly walking from the office to the car park) but it was rather misty this morning - didn't feel especially icy on the roads though so that was good.

Well 4.30 this morning Paul and I looked at the bikes, then each other and said 'CAR' and it wasn't until about 10am that we turned the fog lights of on the buses and now its dark again the freezing fog is coming back:irked:
but I just wanted to share my freaky weather day with you, we have a small area of Northampton called St James it takes about 3 minutes to get across it in a car, and it was snowing in St James today, no where else in Northampton
Just St James:confused:

it said on GMTV this morning that what people where reporting as snow, wasn't. they said it was actually the fog breaking up.

it's been so cold here in wolves today...and i must say this morning was cold and foggy BUT.... in the sky falling down where v.tiny little particles which i can only describe as glitter like. i think it was also something to do with fog.
i must say it was so pretty to see.

Just to reiterate WHILE A CAR WILL GO IN RAIN ICE SLEET OR SNOW it will not always stop safely.

It's all to easy to forget this driving a modern car which you will only feel the experience of driving a couple of times a year in this type of weather, advanced brakes, power steering and traction control can only help so much.

In a classic car be even more careful as you have none of that but you know that anyway, I do believe people feel almost "too safe" driving modern cars, as you have all this safety some people not all of course will drive more agressively without relising it because you can get away with it 99 times out of a 100.

Yesterday in all the fog I had a large modern saloon cut me up on an A road no other reason that a lorry was up front and he couldn't wait to get out if it had been someone less experienced driving an old car or I truely believe the advanced training and track work I have done actually stopped him from causing an accident.

It was blimmin foggy on the way in this morning, but is starting to clear now. The number of people driving with no lights was unbelievable. Idiots!
