I am quite surprised that everyone does not have a website, I try and find info from peoples profiles and they have no website address listed. It amazes me, as a lot of my new appointments/enquiries come from my website.

Not many people will look through the Yellow Pages anymore, they search online, so think about the people that you are missing out on.

Last year I took part in the guild easter egg promotion and quite a few people said they had come to me rather than someone closer to them as I had a website, so they could see what I offered and got a feel for what I was about.

If its cost/time, then websites are quite cheap to buy but are time consuming to start with. Getting someone like Carl/Extentionise or Ruth to make it for you would be extremely cost effective.

So, who has a website and who doesn't? and for those that don't - is it something that you have considered or is a conscious decision not to have one?

I am making mine as we speak! Its time consuming and giving me a headache BUT i know that my first port of call for anything now is the internet! I think being on line is a must these days

I wouldn't be without my website (www.hightownnails.com) as most of my business comes from that and word of mouth.

It also suprises me too the number of business people who do not have a website (in various different industries) and show no inclination of getting one in the near future. In my opinion, they are missing out on a big market.

A website is something that i have wanted for a long time,
but I'm an I.T dumb blond lol,
the lovely Ruth Mills is going to make one for me

When I saw emmsys site I knew I needed one too and went on to make my own, I went with office live so didnt make it from scratch but from templates but I am happy with it for now and have had a good response from it

Didn't want to bother you just yet as you have had so much to deal with just lately,
i will get it all together for you though if you want to be kept busy

Well, Sonia's in theatre for her second kidney op as we speak, and I'm in my room at the guest house, but my Vodafone dongle is being a bit mardy and corrupting everything I'm trying to download this morning (am currently looking at WYSIWYG text editors [what you see is what you get] for making it easier for people to edit content on web sites, but every time I try to download something, WinZip is complaining that it can't open it)!

But hopefully I'll have some free time in a bit - then I'll try and juggle doing your site with a couple of others too - it's a busy life but good fun :)

I get a fair amount of business from the website, but I think as long as you have an online presence, be it MySpace or Facebook or something similar, you don't necessarily need a bespoke website. Too many people have the "if you build it, they will come" mentality which is so not the case. Your online presence should be one part of your marketing toolkit, not the only part of it!
Mine is Calla Salon - News!
All comments (good and bad) gratefully received.
Oh, and if you are going to have a website, have it proof read before it goes live!

I would love a web site ........... but again I am only just computer literate enough for surfing & brochures that really is my limit. (only just managed to do a tri fold price list lol). I dont know yet if I can stretch myself financially to paying as things are a bit quieter than normal. But definitely need one so will see how it goes over the next couple of months.

Try Freewebs hun, as it says there free and so easy to set up...I have mine from there take a look www.freewebs.com/suze-nailz/ x

I do have a website...i just didnt put it on here hun xx

I have a website, and am amazed at just how much business I get from it. As I'm not a high street based salon, I use it as my 'shop window' and update my treatments and special offers regularly, letting clients know.

The one thing that I think has been worth it weight in gold as an investment has also been my own domain name. Both clients and suppliers seem to take you much more professionally, with one, and I believe you can still use a Freewebs site or whichever but just direct your domain to it. It also saves using a hotmail address or whatever for email.....as I personally think '[email protected]' comes across much better. I certainly look for suppliers that have a professional email and website set up, so I'm sure people do the same to me.

By the way, I'm an utter intellectual idiot when it comes to computers, but I built my own website. It wasn't hard, and I used Microsoft Frontpage, which I think is one of the slightly older, and simpler packages, but I get complimented frequently on the site, and find it very easy to maintain through this.

I have a website but dont show it on here. I believe i am the only Hairdresser i my area to have one on online adds. They are not for everyone though as im sure many clients are getting on also and so dont use the net, they just rely on the phone book or local mags. Also perhaps some people have all the clients they need, many have large families and so get recomendations from them too.

I have one but haven't put it on here. I am always suspicious of a business that doesn't have a website!

I too have got one, but haven't got it on here. Its basic as I have made it myself but I have had a few people find me through it and several people chose me because of my website during the Easter promotion.

Ive got one...getting a fair few hits.....

Get bookings from it ..... its all over my business cards & price lists....If you type in the town and nails its right at the top of the page ....

I did it myself through office live....easy peasy ..

I really want a website! Is something i keep meaning to do, but always seem to have a time and/or money restriction! I wouldnt know where to start myself, so would have to pay someone to do it. Im rubbish on a computer, (cant even get spell check to work on this site).

I did my own website through Freewebs, but having bought my own domain name I don't have the Freewebds name in my web address. Mine is www.vnails.co.uk and was incredibly easy to create as well as dead easy to maintain...... I get loads of business through it.

I understand you get better listings on the search engines if you have a dedicated domain name rather than the Freewebs one......

I wouldn't be without mine!

See straight away I am lost with domain names etc:green:
When you do your own on freewebs, do you pay an annual charge to maintain it?
