i thought the nail tech did very good work. i just dont like flared nails. my aunt used to live in modesto and they always have really funky styles there; as a matter of fact, my cousins are all nail techs LOL

I couldnt remember my login details to My Space and its just as well, one look at the nails in the link told me i wouldnt like what i was going to see.

Nails like that go against everything i was taught as a nail tech. Fanned nails give me the eebie jeebies, they make me cringe and some what feel sick lol

Good use of colour is all i can say, sorry :irked:

As for the newbie who posted, take your time to look through our gallery and you will find some fab work by some fab uk techs :green:

Hi Lockstar, i noticed you are a newbie, you are obviously a beginer in nails, yes ? I'm sorry i was rude in my last post but i was a bit shocked by your thinking they were good nails ! as i think most of us were. Take a look at the geeks gallery hun, we have some amazing techs here in the uk. Please don't, whatever you do strive to do nails like that it's a crime! yes the art was ok, not fantastic or anything, but the shape was god awfull.
This is more the shape. Can you see the difference?
Keep practicing, and good luck x

This is what most of us are talking about.Gorgeous nails Kate, loveeeely!!

I know you do get different shapes in different areas, hell i hate the porn star nails so many essex girls love having, but it's what can be the awful trned sometimes. We just have to strive to "educate" our clients as to what is really pleasing to the eye.:)

I'm sorry but I thought there was way too much tip which outbalanced the nail bed and I have to agree that the 'flared look' is awful. Plus in all honesty I have seen much better than this.
I think that to find a good quality (and I mean GOOD quality) set of nails is really really hard but this is what most of us aspire to. Granted, the international techs sites outweigh the UK ones, but we are a small fish in a big pond and this doesn't mean that we are not as good. Maybe this is what you meant to say???
Anyway, just keep doing what we are all doing; improving, improving, improving.
Claire x

I just don,t like the shape...if the shape would be straight instead of flared i think that the use of her colors are quite cool.

I really never understood why flared nails are popular anywhere ... they remind me of shovels. But that's my personal opinion

I'm sure the person in the US is a very talented person, personally I have no desire to even remotely copy that sort of wide, flared unproportioned style.
I'll leave that 'loud' stuff to the californians!

To learn the nail art is all about having an artistic streak within you.
Get yourself some paints, glitters and rhinestones etc and just let your imagination run riot.

I think infact the Uk have the best Nail technicians. On the geek gallery there is some absoloutly AMAZING nail art which i wouldnt even be able to do myself. Fantastic designs and looks as though so much hard work as gone into it...Take a look at the geek gallery and im sure you will think different x

well if the UK do not produce good techs then i may as well give up now (after only 7months) as most of my influences are right here in the UK...many on this site. I really think that even i could do alot of what has been done there with regards to colour (may be not all).....i havent done any courses just experimenting and finding out how to on this site (i do have ezflow design course coming up though). But from my training the shape of the nails is not what i am trying to achieve....it may well be a big hit in the states but not for me. The link to solarnails' nails show i think a much better example as the nail bed has been extended so they look at lot more balanced.
I am commenting on these as i feel if you post pictures on a website for all to see then people are going to comment....whether it be good or bad....most comments have been constuctive critisim so far. :)

sorry but i really didn't like that nail art....!! in the UK u have a very good nail technicians with a very good nail art and there is technicians really bad...and that is the case in every country!!! if u really want to do that nail art i don't think its complicated to do if u r a nail technician....but good taste is necessary!!!!!!! good luck xxx

the flared nails remind me of my first set of pink and whites :eek::eek:

let the nightmare begin xxxxxxxx

For true uk talent have a look at the work of Antony Buckley and there are many many others:)

ooop's think someone wrote a comment that they didnt really mean.... i looked at the site that you mentioned and to be honest i could not get past the colours she has used on the site let alone the nail art... sorry just my opinion...

I like the colours but not the shape. BTW, i have seen a lot of nail art on here done by ppl from the UK and they look fab.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.....

personally, I didn't like the pictures on the home page because they were totally unbalanced in terms of nail bed to free edge, extending the nail bed to make them balanced would have made such a huge difference IMO.

Not sure I like flared nails at all...no matter who did them, they scream fake to me. (I'm even one of those "fake" americans) Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and while I don't like them because they look unbalanced to me, they are not horrible, I'm sure they took quite a bit of work and talent.

I guess I'm old and stuffy, if they are going to be worn all day, every day, they should look as natural and flattering as possible. If they are going to be arty, or outrageous, they need to be over the top! 3D fantasy competition over the top!

MY TURN, ME NEXT, ME NEXT!!!!

First of all there is trendy and there is tacky,
Trends start in the UK and Europe..........and....... that's as far as I'm going with that comment.

Although there are a couple ideas on that site that have flooded my creative side with new ideas, I must agree with our hugely talented techs in The UK and the rest of Europe......WHAT THE HECK IS WITH THE FLARE????? Good god what is this world coming to.......oh please please can you give me a FULL SET OF FLIPPERS!!!

FRANKIE SAYS RELAX!

PLEASE PEOPLE, DO NOT TAKE WHAT I SAID AS AN INSULT! IT WAS NOT INTENDED AS SUCH! I'm just a n00b, I don't want hostility  Like I said, I didn't say there was a complete absence of talent in the UK. I said that I just haven't found it! I'm sure that you ladies do excellent work and I'm sure I'll see it when I have to pour over the galleries. CAN WE BE FRIENDS?

Of course..We are a friendly bunch here  x

I guess I'm alone in that I actually like the flares  I like the stilettos too.
To each their own I suppose!

Of course..We are a friendly bunch here  x

thanks Joanne

Have to say, yes she uses good colours, but they are so unbalanced, very flared and thick.

My nail art isn't perfect but is at least balanced and not flared.

I did do a nail art course and have done an EZ Flow Design course which specifically shows you how to use colours etc, but they don't tell you what to design, you do it yourself and let the creative juices flow.

As Geeg says, you are either artistic naturally or you have to work hard at it, art can be taught, but you will never have the special something that makes someone go Wow!

Just play and have a go at designing stuff. You are the only person who limits what you do.

btw I was just about to link to your site, Wendy :green: I've got a chocolate cake for Sunday (remember who I am now?)
